Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex paediatric caseload, delivering high-quality assessments and interventions

  • Deliver therapy across clinic, school, home, and group settings
  • Support children with Autism, DCD, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental conditions
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including SLTs, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, and PHNs
  • Liaise with families, schools, and community professionals to ensure holistic care
  • Contribute to service planning, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate documentation in line with HSE and CORU standards
  • Engage in ongoing CPD, reflective practice, and professional leadership

Candidate Requirements

  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • CORU Registration (Essential)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience, with paediatric experience for the Senior Occupational Therapist role.
  • Staff Grade Occupational Therapists with 2 years’ post-qualification experience will also be considered for Staff Grade OT opportunities.
  • Experience managing complex caseloads and working within multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience providing supervision or mentorship desirable
  • Strong knowledge of paediatric conditions including Autism, DCD, ADHD, and developmental delays
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative in a senior role
  • Flexibility to travel within the Clondalkin area as required

  • Monitor outcomes and adapt interventions in collaboration with clients, families, carers, and MDT colleagues.
  • Provide education and guidance to families and carers to support independence at home.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary Primary Care Team, including Physiotherapists, Public Health Nurses, GPs, Social Workers, Speech and Language Therapists, and other allied health professionals.
  • Liaise with hospitals, community services, voluntary agencies, and relevant stakeholders to ensure coordinated and integrated care.
  • Participate in integrated care pathways and frailty initiatives, including joint assessments where required.
  • Contribute to discharge planning, advocacy, and community reintegration.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and support to junior staff, therapy assistants, and students.

Requirements

  • CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist (essential).
  • Recognised CORU-approved qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Preferably have some adult primary care, adult medical, adult disability, seating, complex cases, neurological or palliative care experience.
  • Access to a car (almost all work is taking place in service users homes in / around the Ballyfermot / Palmerston / Inchicore / Cherry Orchard area).
  • Have an enthusiastic attitude and be keen to take on what is a challenging work environment -meaning lower than average staffing levels, and lengthy waiting times.
  • Strong knowledge of equipment prescription, assistive technology, and environmental modifications.
