Overview of the Role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist – Medical Oncology will provide expert, autonomous nursing care to patients diagnosed with cancer, supporting them throughout diagnosis, active treatment, and survivorship.

The CNS will act as a key point of contact for patients and families, providing specialist clinical assessment, symptom management, psychosocial support, education, and telephone triage using validated tools such as UKONS.

Working as part of the acute haematology and oncology multidisciplinary team, the CNS will ensure high-quality, safe, and evidence-based care in line with NCCP guidelines, national standards, and organisational policies.

The role is developed around the five core concepts of the CNS role as defined by the NCNM framework: Clinical Focus, Patient / Client Advocacy, Education & Training, Audit & Research and Consultancy & Clinical Leadership.

Key Responsibilities

The CNS will provide both direct and indirect specialist nursing care, including:

Deliver a specialist nursing service to patients with a new or existing cancer diagnosis
Undertake comprehensive patient assessments (physical, psychological, social, spiritual)
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised plans of care in collaboration with the MDT
Monitor patient response to SACT and manage treatment-related toxicities
Provide nurse-led clinics with MDT input

This is an excellent opportunity for motivated and patient-focused Radiographers who are keen to work across multiple imaging modalities while developing their clinical expertise in a supportive and progressive Radiology environment.

You will join a friendly, highly skilled multidisciplinary team, working in a hospital recognised for delivering exceptional patient care and advanced diagnostic services.

The Diagnostic Imaging Department provides comprehensive imaging services for both inpatients and outpatients, including: General Radiography, Emergency Radiography, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, Interventional Radiology and Ultrasound.

As a Multi-Modality Radiographer, you will work across General Radiography, CT and MRI, delivering high-quality imaging services while ensuring excellent patient care and adherence to professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver a high-quality diagnostic imaging service across General Radiography, CT and MRI
Perform imaging procedures in accordance with professional and departmental protocols
Ensure patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout all examinations
Maintain compliance with radiation protection principles including justification, optimisation, ALARA and dose limits
Participate in on-call and out-of-hours services as required
Work collaboratively with radiologists, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams
Maintain accurate imaging records using RIS, PACS and hospital information systems
Participate in quality assurance (QA) programmes and departmental audits
Ensure a clean and safe working environment in line with health and safety regulations
Report equipment issues promptly and assist in maintaining imaging equipment standards
Engage actively in continuing professional development (CPD) and professional training

The Successful Candidate will demonstrate:

Eligibility Criteria:

BSc or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
CORU Registration (essential)
Ideally 1-2 years post-qualification experience in an acute hospital
Experience working in General Radiography and CT
MRI experience desirable
Experience with DEXA imaging advantageous
Knowledge of RIS/PACS systems
Experience participating in on-call services desirable
Strong knowledge of radiation protection and safety regulations

Key Responsibilities

Manage a complex paediatric caseload, delivering high-quality assessments and interventions

Deliver therapy across clinic, school, home, and group settings
Support children with Autism, DCD, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental conditions
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including SLTs, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, and PHNs
Liaise with families, schools, and community professionals to ensure holistic care

Candidate Requirements

Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
CORU Registration (Essential)
Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience, with paediatric experience highly desirable
Experience managing complex caseloads and working within multidisciplinary teams
A willingness to learn from experienced clinicians and develop specialist paediatric skills
Strong knowledge of paediatric conditions including Autism, DCD, ADHD, and developmental delays
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team while managing your own caseload
Flexibility to travel within the Clondalkin area as required
