Role Overview:

The Managing Pharmacist will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of the pharmacy while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislative, professional, and company standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care and supporting the wider pharmacy team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with the Pharmacy Act 2007 and all PSI regulations
  • Maintain the pharmacy to the highest professional standards
  • Deliver and promote pharmaceutical care and health promotion initiatives
  • Participate in continuing professional development and training programmes
  • Implement and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, and SOPs
  • Manage dispensary operations, stock control, and documentation processes
  • Ensure the security of pharmacy stock, premises, and keys
  • Support Health & Safety compliance across the pharmacy
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the business
  • Oversee claims and submissions relating to DPS, GMS, LTI, and other HSE schemes
  • Support retail standards including merchandising, category management, and stock control
  • Keep abreast of changes in pharmacy legislation and PSI guidance
  • Lead and support the pharmacy team to ensure excellent patient care and customer service

Essential Requirements:

  • Registered member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI)
  • Minimum 3 years post-registration experience
  • Previous Supervising/Managing Pharmacist experience (1-2 years desirable)
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
