My client a leading retail business with over 50 stores nationwide is seeking a Warehouse Manager for their central distribution site in Athlone.

This is a great role for an experienced Warehouse Manager to take charge of a large team, in a very busy warehouse containing large volumes of bulky stock.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will lead a team of 36 to include operatives and transport.

As Warehouse Manager you will oversee all warehouse operations to include goods-in, picking and packing, branch fulfilment, home delivery, and delivery direct to key trade customers.

Key Responsibilities for the job of Warehouse Manager:

  • Oversight of all Warehouse functions; goods-in, put-away, replenishment, picking, order assembly, consolidation, packing, and dispatching
  • Planning and ensuring of all daily replenishments to all branches, trade customers, and home deliveries
  • Management of warehouse layouts in order to most effectively store heavy product, such as boilers, radiators, etc.
  • Ensuring the warehouse is kept to a high standard in all regards, such as equipment condition and racking safety.
  • Completing training, and performance reviews, aligned with compliance standards.
  • Fostering a culture of safety and excellence to further organisational ambitions.
  • Facilitating strong collaboration between warehouse and office-based teams through functional and cross-functional governance.
  • Oversight of safe Materials Handling Equipment operation and ensuring compliance with national legislation in relation to all health and safety practices.

  • Collaborating with different department teams to decide how best to manage slow-moving, damaged, or obsolete stock.
  • Supporting regularly scheduled stocktakes.
  • Collaborating with Transport to ensure targets are met by guaranteeing efficient routing, loading accuracy, and quickly resolving any transport issues that do arise.
  • Resolving any order picking or order fulfilment issues highlighted by the branches, sales, or customer service.
  • Utilising the ERP system to drive productivity and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Developing KPI’s, dashboards and reporting these daily and weekly.

Skills and Experience Required for the job of Warehouse Manager:

  • Proven experience leading a large warehouse or distribution centre team as a senior manager, with the ideal candidate having worked in a multi-branch trade environment.
  • A strong understanding of Branch, Site and Home Delivery fulfilment service requirements and logistics operations.
  • Practical knowledge of warehouse compliance obligations and the implementation of Health and Safety practices across a workforce.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency and a good working knowledge of WMS/ERP
  • Hands-on Leadership skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate across a wide range of teams, throughout the fulfilment process.
