Responsibilities:
- Assist with the day-to-day management of the deli department, ensuring excellent food quality, freshness, and presentation
- Supervise and support deli staff, fostering a positive and productive team environment
- Help train and develop team members to deliver outstanding customer service
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise waste to maximise profitability
- Ensure full compliance with HACCP, food safety, and health & safety regulations
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and merchandising throughout the deli area
- Support the Deli Manager in achieving sales and margin targets
- Handle customer queries and ensure a positive shopping experience at all times
- Step into a leadership role when required and assist with the smooth running of the department
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a deli, fresh food, or supervisory role within a convenience store, supermarket, or forecourt environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to support, motivate, and develop a team
- Good knowledge of HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for fresh food and maintaining high operational standards
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and early mornings
