An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head Butcher to join a well-established and successful food retail business in Cork.

This role is ideal for a skilled butcher who takes pride in quality, enjoys leading a team, and wants to play a key role in driving standards, sales, and customer satisfaction within a busy fresh food environment.

Salary: €40,000 – €43,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the butchery department
  • Prepare, cut and merchandise fresh meat products to the highest standards
  • Drive department sales and profitability
  • Manage stock control, ordering and waste management
  • Ensure excellent product availability and presentation
  • Lead, coach and develop team members
  • Maintain HACCP, food safety and hygiene standards
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and product knowledge
  • Monitor department performance and implement improvements where required

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience as a Head Butcher, Senior Butcher or Butcher Manager
  • Strong fresh meat preparation and merchandising skills
  • Experience leading and motivating a team
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and HACCP procedures
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to drive sales and margin
  • Passion for fresh food and customer service
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment
