Excel Recruitment is proud to partner with a hospital in North Tipperary to recruit a motivated, CORU registered Radiographer to join their team on a part time or fulltime basis, on a one-year fixed term contract.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, supportive Radiology department, in a hospital known for its community focused care. Located just 30 minutes from Limerick.

Overview of role:

The Diagnostic Imaging Department provides a service to both inpatients and outpatients.

They currently provide General and Emergency Radiography, CT, Fluoroscopy, and Ultrasound services.

The holder of this post will work as a member of the Radiography Department, you will be working with a dedicated team of Radiographers. Providing a high-quality radiography service to patients in assigned areas in accordance with professional standards of practice.

The Successful Candidate:

The successful candidate will work under the leadership of an exceptional Radiology Manager dedicated to innovation, excellence, and supportive work.

There will be opportunities to cross train and develop your Radiology skills.

General Responsibilities:

  • Participate daily in the general radiography service in the assigned area, proactively engaging in training for upskilling and professional development.
  • Contribute to out-of-hours service as required.
  • Maintain high standards in patient care and radiographic techniques, ensuring adherence to radiation protection principles (justification, optimisation, ALARA, and dose limits), and follow “local rules.”
  • Comply with statutory directives and keep clinical and technical knowledge up to date, seeking advice and training where necessary.
  • Ensure a clean, safe working environment in line with health and safety guidelines.
  • Report any equipment faults to the designated supervisor and log them appropriately.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge in key areas, including clinical risk reporting, occupational health, patient handling, resuscitation, health and safety, financial controls, and patient complaints.
  • Efficiently use the Radiology Information System (RIS), PACS, and other relevant systems in daily tasks.
  • Develop IT skills to analyse and present data for departmental meetings as required.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must hold a Diploma/Degree of Radiography.
  • Must hold CORU registration
  • Knowledge of the RIS system and experience with on-call services.
  • Flexibility to work in the General Department and adapt to changes in healthcare environments.
  • Strong awareness of Radiation Safety and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Current knowledge of Diagnostic Radiography theory and practice.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Strong self-management and teamwork abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a high-quality diagnostic imaging service across General Radiography, CT and MRI
  • Perform imaging procedures in accordance with professional and departmental protocols

  • Maintain compliance with radiation protection principles including justification, optimisation, ALARA and dose limits
  • Participate in on-call and out-of-hours services as required
  • Work collaboratively with radiologists, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain accurate imaging records using RIS, PACS and hospital information systems
  • Participate in quality assurance (QA) programmes and departmental audits
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment in line with health and safety regulations
  • Report equipment issues promptly and assist in maintaining imaging equipment standards
  • Engage actively in continuing professional development (CPD) and professional training

Eligibility Criteria:

  • BSc or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
  • CORU Registration (essential)
  • Ideally 1-2 years post-qualification experience in an acute hospital
  • Experience working in General Radiography and CT
  • MRI experience desirable
  • Experience with DEXA imaging advantageous
  • Knowledge of RIS/PACS systems
  • Experience participating in on-call services desirable
  • Strong knowledge of radiation protection and safety regulations
