My client, Ireland’s leading food retail, wholesale and food service business is seeking a commercial and passionate Assistant Food Buyer to join their highly reputable business in Dublin. The successful candidate will manage and optimise their assigned product portfolio while building relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders in the business.

Package:

  • Salary €50-55k plus generous benefits

Responsibilities for the Assistant Food Buyer job include:

  • Managing the portfolio product range, product quality and category plans to ensure that it reflects market and consumer trends.
  • Managing the sourcing and introduction of own-label products in conjunction with the product development teams.
  • With the support of the Trading Manager, negotiating the total purchase cost of products for the relevant portfolios.
  • Setting wholesale selling prices and monitoring portfolio and product margins to ensure that profitability objectives for both the company and customers are being met.
  • Developing excellent long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers and Retail Partners.
  • Supporting project development and roll-out within the category.

Experience required for the Assistant Food Buyer job includes:

  • Third level qualification and/or at least 2 years’ experience operating in a commercial function, e.g. Trading, Finance or Supply Chain.
  • Strong commercial acumen and proven analytical skills combined with excellent written and oral communications capabilities are prerequisites.
  • Knowledge of applying category management principles would be an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build long-term, stable relationships.
  • Project management skills would be an advantage.

Responsibilities of this Buying Administrator role include:

  • Creation and upkeep of supplier price files.
  • Purchase order entry/amendments and scheduling.
  • Ownership of the FOB Delivery Schedule and communicating key dates internally.
  • Creation of product offers (Warehouse and Direct) and compilation.
  • Manage the member portal – Offers and upkeep of product information.
  • Competitor Review of analysis and tracking.
  • Distribution and design of member offers and product information.
  • Action member and supplier communication on behalf of the buyers.
  • Creation of new supplier account forms.
  • Resolve on behalf of or elevate supplier and member queries to the relevant buyers.

  • Experience in a busy, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience as an Office Administrator, Retail Analyst, Buying Administrator, or similar.
