Hours: Full-Time, 35 hours per week
Salary: In line with HSE Senior Dietitian pay scales

Excel Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting a Senior Dietitian (Senior Grade) for a full-time agency contract within an adult disability service across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.

The current base for this post is Tuam, Co. Galway; however, candidates based in Mayo or Roscommon may be accommodated locally where a suitable base can be identified. This is an excellent opportunity to provide specialist dietetic support to adults with disabilities, with the majority of the caseload focused on home enteral tube feeding.

As a Senior Grade Dietitian

  • You will work as part of a dedicated adult disability service, supporting adults with complex nutritional and feeding needs in community and residential settings.
  • This role will involve a significant amount of travel across the Galway, Mayo and Roscommon region, so access to transport and flexibility to travel are essential.
  • You will provide expert assessment, care planning and ongoing dietetic input, with a strong focus on safe and effective management of home enteral tube feeding, nutrition support and collaborative working with families, carers and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidate

You will have experience working with adults with complex nutritional needs, ideally within disability, community, primary care or a related clinical setting.

Experience in home enteral tube feeding, complex nutrition support, disability services, and multidisciplinary community working would be a strong advantage.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist dietetic assessment, diagnosis and nutrition care planning for adults with disabilities and complex nutritional requirements.
  • Manage a caseload where the majority of referrals relate to home enteral tube feeding, including assessment, monitoring, education and review.
  • Develop and review nutrition support plans, ensuring safe, evidence-based and person-centred care for service users in their homes, residential settings or community bases.
  • Work closely with adults with disabilities, families, carers, nursing teams, medical teams and the wider multidisciplinary team to support continuity and quality of care.
  • Travel across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon as required to deliver dietetic services, home visits and service-user reviews.
  • Maintain high-quality clinical documentation, governance standards and safe practice in line with service policies and CORU requirements.
  • Contribute to service development, audit, quality improvement and the implementation of nutrition support pathways within the adult disability service.
  • Provide education and guidance to service users, families, carers and staff on nutrition support and enteral feeding care, as appropriate.

Requirements

  • BSc/MSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics (or equivalent).
  • Registered with CORU (essential). INDI membership desirable.
  • Demonstrable post-qualification dietetic experience supporting adults with complex nutritional needs.
  • Experience in home enteral tube feeding and complex nutrition support is highly desirable.
  • Experience within disability, community, primary care or residential services would be an advantage.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to own transport, due to the travel requirements of the post.
  • Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently across a regional service.
  • A compassionate, person-centred approach and confidence working collaboratively with service users, families, carers and the wider MDT.
