Responsibilities of this Food Technologist role include:
- Working closely with suppliers to ensure all own-brand products meet agreed specifications and quality standards for both product and packaging.
- Ensuring all products consistently deliver for the consumer while meeting agreed technical and quality standards.
- Ensuring full compliance with legislation and internal policies throughout all stages of product development.
- Managing and maintaining online product specifications (e.g. specification systems such as Zoom) to ensure all products are fully approved before launch.
- Following the stage gate process to deliver efficient, structured product development.
- Conducting regular market bench marking to identify opportunities for product or process improvements.
- Supporting suppliers and product developers to implement best-in-class sustainable packaging solutions in line with environmental targets.
- Liaising with design teams to review and approve packaging artwork and on-pack information.
- Working closely with sourcing teams to approve supplier bases for new and existing products.
- Maintaining close communication with the Quality department regarding supplier audits and managing any technical issues effectively.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal cross-functional teams.
- Understanding business priorities and contributing to delivering quality products at the lowest possible cost.
Requirements for this Food Technologist role include:
- Third-level degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Business, or a similar relevant discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the FMCG sector/food manufacturing environment in a transferable role such as Development, Quality, or Technical.
- Experience completing retailer specifications using computerised systems.
- Strong knowledge and experience of legal labelling and label approvals.
- Understanding of quality systems such as BRC, HACCP, and allergen control.
- Strong project management, organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a passion for food and market trends.
