Financial Inventory Controller – Retail

I am recruiting an Inventory Controller to join my clients finance team, and this person will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the company’s inventory-related activities
As Stock Controller your responsibilities will include managing the Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) account, identifying and resolving stock variances, ensuring accurate pricing, and booking stock transactions in the SAP system.
Additionally, you will monitor and manage ageing stock to minimise obsolescence and optimise inventory levels.
This position requires a detail-oriented, analytical individual with a strong understanding of inventory finance processes and inventory management software systems.
Skills required for the job of Financial Inventory Controller:
- Experience, knowledge, and skills on accounting of inventory
- Proven experience in inventory management, stock control, or a related finance role.
- Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems for stock booking and reporting.
- Solid understanding of GRNI (goods received not invoices) processes, stock pricing, variance analysis, stock cycle counts, and ageing stock management.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail
- Strong communication skills to liaise with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities effectively.
Responsibilities for the job of Financial Inventory Controller:
- Investigate stock variances and implement corrective actions
- Analyse stock data to identify trends and improve forecasting accuracy
- Generate reports on stock levels, discrepancies, and inventory performance.
- Perform timely and accurate stock bookings in the SAP system, maintaining integrity of inventory records.
- Use inventory management systems to track stock movements and update records.
- Manage and reconcile the GRNI account to ensure accuracy and completeness of goods received and their associated invoices.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to inventory, providing relevant analysis and reports
- Support the finance team with stock valuations and reconciliations.
- Monitor and analyse stock variances, investigating discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate pricing of stock, including verification of price changes and communication with relevant stakeholders.
- Implement and oversee regular stock cycle counts to monitor inventory accuracy and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Generate reports on stock levels, discrepancies, and inventory performance.
- Monitor and manage ageing stock, preparing reports on slow-moving or obsolete inventory and collaborating with relevant teams to take corrective action.
- Collaborate with purchasing and warehouse teams to ensure seamless stock flow and accurate reporting.
- Maintain accurate stock records and ensure inventory levels are optimised.
- Conduct regular stock audits and cycle counts to identify discrepancies.
- Investigate stock variances and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with warehouse teams to streamline stock management processes.
- Analyse stock data to identify trends and improve forecasting accuracy.
Salary & Package:
- Salary €40k-€47k negotiable but must reflect experience

- Strong command of D365 or SAP 4HANA (min 2 years’ experience) Advanced Excel skills; confident with forecasting tools & ERP systems
- Good understanding of P&L impact, demand planning metrics, and customs regulations.
