Job Purpose

As a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred occupational therapy services to older adults undergoing rehabilitation. You will play a key role in supporting patients to maximise their independence, functional ability, and overall wellbeing.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of comprehensive rehabilitation programmes in a supportive and progressive clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver occupational therapy assessments and interventions for older persons in a rehabilitation setting
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans focused on functional independence and safe discharge planning
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members including Physiotherapists, Nurses, and Medical Staff
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families/carers
  • Complete clinical documentation and reports in line with professional standards
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and service development initiatives

Essential Requirements

  • BSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent recognised qualification)
  • CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • Previous experience working with older persons / geriatric rehabilitation
  • Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Full driving licence and access to a car (desirable)

About the Role:

The post is based in Mullingar Hospital, with a caseload comprising a mix of acute fractures and general musculoskeletal conditions. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred physiotherapy care, supporting recovery, rehabilitation, and safe discharge planning.

This role is ideal for a motivated Physiotherapist looking to consolidate and expand their experience in acute Orthopaedics and MSK Physiotherapy within a hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and treat patients with a range of acute fractures, orthopaedic injuries, and general MSK conditions.
  • Deliver evidence-based physiotherapy interventions to promote recovery, mobility, and functional independence.
  • Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to discharge planning and onward referral to community or outpatient services as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in line with CORU and HSE standards.

Essential Criteria

  • BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy.
  • CORU registration (essential).
