This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking Oncology Day Unit, where you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while contributing to service development and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the day-to-day coordination of care within the Oncology Day Unit
- Deliver specialist clinical expertise in Medical Oncology, supporting complex patient pathways
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to nursing staff
- Ensure safe, effective allocation of resources and appropriate skill mix
- Promote evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient outcomes
- Support service development, audit, and KPI achievement
- Maintain clear communication with senior nursing and management teams
- Participate in and lead quality improvement and change initiatives
Essential Criteria
- Registered with NMBI (General Division) or eligible
- Postgraduate qualification in Oncology (or equivalent)
- Minimum 4 years’ oncology experience
- Proven experience in a leadership/clinical specialist capacity
- Competent in IV/oral chemotherapy administration
- Experience with CVAD care, cannulation, and venepuncture
- Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills
- IT proficiency (Microsoft Office) and awareness of clinical governance
- Management qualification (desirable)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification (or willingness to undertake)
- Experience in service development, audit, or change management

This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive frontline team where you will provide specialist advice and support to patients, families, and multidisciplinary colleagues, while contributing to service development, education, and continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist nursing expertise and advice to patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients across radiotherapy pathways
- Educate patients, relatives, and carers on radiotherapy treatment, expected side effects, and self-management strategies
- Act as a clinical resource to nursing staff, radiation therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Support symptom management, treatment tolerance, and patient wellbeing throughout the radiotherapy journey
- Promote evidence-based practice, audit, and continuous quality improvement within the service
- Maintain clear communication structures and strong interdisciplinary collaboration
- Contribute to service development initiatives, policy review, and change management activities
- Ensure care delivery is aligned with national and international standards, infection prevention, and clinical governance requirements
Essential Criteria
- Registered with NMBI (General Division) or eligible
- Postgraduate qualification in Oncology, Radiotherapy, or a related discipline
- Minimum 4 years’ post-registration experience, with strong oncology and/or radiotherapy exposure
- Demonstrated experience in a clinical specialist, senior nursing, or leadership capacity
- Strong knowledge of patient assessment, care planning, and symptom management within cancer care
- Excellent communication, education, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
- IT proficiency and awareness of clinical governance, audit, and quality standards
Desirable
- Previous experience within a radiotherapy setting
- Management or leadership qualification
- Experience in audit, research, education, or service development
