Role:

As a Senior Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a key leadership role in the assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic support of children with complex developmental needs. You will work closely with families, schools, and a multidisciplinary team to deliver child-centred, evidence-based interventions. You will also support the development and supervision of junior SLTs and students, contributing to the ongoing excellence of the service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialist assessment and intervention for children presenting with communication, speech, language, and/or feeding/swallowing needs.
  • Develop and deliver individualised therapy programmes in partnership with families and caregivers.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, etc.).
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to families, schools, and other professionals involved in the child’s care.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Family Support Plans (IFSPs).
  • Liaise with community services, preschools, and schools to ensure coordinated service delivery.
  • Maintain high-quality clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior SLTs and students.
  • Contribute to service planning, audits, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in ongoing CPD and promote best practice within the service.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy and active CORU registration.
  • 3 years post-qualification experience, with at least 2 years in paediatrics or disability services.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a complex paediatric caseload.
  • Strong leadership, supervision, and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational abilities.
  • Proven experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
