Position overview
The core purpose of this role is to support the Senior Buyer and to effectively develop and implement the buying strategy. As Assistant Buyer, you will work collaboratively with the other teams in the business, in order to offer your customers, the best products at a competitive price. You will be comfortable negotiating with suppliers and be commercially minded – always focused on getting the best results.

Your day-to-day as Assistant Buyer – Electrical Retailer:
- Point of contact for relevant store queries
- Analyse stock holding and raise POs in line with reorder budget
- Manage the replenish. process for products and ensure stock holding is in line with budget
- Manage a number of small suppliers. This will increase in line with development in the role
- Maintain pricing policy and monitor competitor activity
- Forge and maintain positive supplier/ store relationships
- Help identify new trends and opportunities for new categories and products
- Support the future roll out of category management principles through quarterly range planning with the Senior Buyer i.e., planogram development
- Monitor and report on key supplier performance monthly, sell in/ sell out V terms & YoY
- Build and maintain strong relationships with other departments within the business
- Attendance to weekly/ monthly buying team meetings
- Support the Senior Buyer with all other necessary reporting/admin. requirements
Skills and qualities required for this Assistant Buyer – Electrical Retailer job include:
- 2 years in similar buying role
- High proficiency using MS Office programmes
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
- Educated to degree standard or equivalent retail experience
- Experience or interest in electrical products would be beneficial
