Role Purpose

The successful Senior Occupational Therapist will provide specialist assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention for children and adolescents with ADHD, working as a key member of a well-established CAMHS multidisciplinary team.

As this is a newly developed Senior OT post, you will have a meaningful opportunity to define the Occupational Therapy contribution to the CAMHS ADHD service, particularly around executive functioning, sensory regulation, emotional regulation, school participation, daily routines, family support and practical strategies that help young people manage everyday life.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention for children and adolescents with ADHD.
  • Developing the OT pathway within an established CAMHS ADHD team where this Senior OT post is newly created.
  • Designing and delivering practical individual and group-based interventions focused on executive functioning, organisation, routines, sensory regulation, emotional regulation, school participation and daily living skills.
  • Working closely with Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Social Work and other allied health colleagues to support child- and family-centred CAMHS care.
  • Contributing to service development, clinical governance, referral pathways and best-practice standards for OT within CAMHS ADHD services.
  • Providing leadership, supervision and support as the OT element of the service continues to grow.

Essential Requirements

  • A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Previous CAMHS ADHD experience, ideally within child and adolescent mental health, neurodevelopmental or a related specialist service.
  • A strong understanding of the Irish healthcare system, including HSE CAMHS pathways and child and adolescent mental health services.
  • Excellent clinical reasoning, documentation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Confidence working independently while also contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team.
  • A practical, child- and family-centred approach to supporting young people with ADHD.
