Youth Floating Support Worker (Maternity Cover)

We are currently recruiting for a Youth Floating Support Worker to join a dedicated service supporting young people with complex challenges to live independently and build brighter futures. This is an initial maternity cover position, offering a fantastic opportunity to make a real and lasting impact.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored, person-centred support to young people (aged 16-25) to help them access and maintain accommodation
  • Support young people to develop independent living skills, including budgeting, tenancy management and life skills
  • Complete assessments, develop support plans and carry out regular reviews to track progress
  • Deliver practical, hands-on support and advocacy with housing providers and external agencies
  • Promote safety and wellbeing through risk assessments and safeguarding practices
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in line with GDPR and organisational standards
  • Build positive, professional relationships with young people, encouraging engagement and trust
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to deliver coordinated support
  • Support young people to access benefits, education, training and other relevant services
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision and ongoing professional development

Requirements

Essential Criteria (must have):

  • Full, current driving licence and access to a car (insured for business use)
  • Experience working with young people in supported housing, community support, or a similar setting:

Minimum 1 years’ experience, OR

A relevant degree (e.g. Social Work, Youth & Community Work) plus 6 months’ experience

  • Experience of risk assessment and safety planning
  • Experience of needs assessment and support planning
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and manage a varied workload
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Resilience and compassion when working in a challenging environment

Desirable:

  • Experience working with young people affected by homelessness
