Due to continued growth and development, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Planning Manager to join their logistics leadership team.

The Role

As Transport Planning Manager, you will lead a high-performing transport planning function, ensuring efficient delivery operations while driving continuous improvement across planning processes, systems, and fleet utilisation.

This is a key leadership role offering the opportunity to influence strategic transport operations within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of transport planners through coaching, training and performance management.
• Oversee daily and weekly transport planning activities, ensuring optimal utilisation of fleet, drivers and routes.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across planning systems, processes and operational tools.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining exceptional service levels.
• Monitor and manage planning-related KPIs, implementing corrective actions where required.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety and Quality standards.
• Work closely with operations, warehouse and customer service teams to ensure delivery schedules meet customer expectations.
• Support key business projects including automation, system implementations and sustainability initiatives.
• Monitor transport costs, fuel usage and budget performance, providing regular reporting and analysis.
• Contribute to route optimisation and capacity planning strategies to maximise efficiency.

About You

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in transport or logistics management within a high-volume operation.
• Strong knowledge of Irish Road Transport Legislation.
• Proven experience leading and managing transport planning teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and people leadership skills.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and utilise operational data.
• Comprehensive understanding of transport and distribution operations, including Health & Safety and HACCP requirements.
• Ability to prioritise and solve problems in a fast-moving environment.
• Degree qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
• Transport Management CPC qualification.
• Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence.

Desirable Experience

• Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS), route optimisation software, telematics, SAP or similar planning platforms.
• Strong project management and continuous improvement experience.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Flexible, adaptable and capable of performing under pressure.
