Stock Controller – DIY & Hardware Retailer
Please note this is not a warehouse job; it is mainly a computer-based role, working with a stock/inventory management IT system. You must have this background to be considered for this job.
My client based in Clonakilty, is a well-known retailer supplying the local community, tradesmen, and builders with a huge choice of products for DIY, bathroom, hardware, building, heating, plumbing, painting, gardening and more!!
They are recruiting a Stock Controller to join their head office team.
As a Stock Controller, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring effective stock management across the branch.
Working closely with suppliers, purchasing teams, goods inwards, and store operations, you will monitor stock levels, investigate discrepancies, manage stock counts, coordinate supplier returns, and support the efficient flow of products throughout the business.
This is a highly organised, analytical and detail-focused role that plays a key part in improving stock accuracy, reducing excess stock, and ensuring products are available to meet customer demand.
Salary is €35k-€40K reflective of experience.
Responsibilities for the job of Inventory Controller
- Key Investigate and resolve negative stock levels on a daily basis.
- Implement and manage the scheduled cycle stock count programme.
- Investigate any variances identified during cycle counts and report.
- Review and analyse weekly stock adjustments, identifying and addressing any discrepancies.
- Maintain and monitor special orders to ensure they are managed efficiently.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure product pricing is accurate and kept up to date.
- Create and set up new products ensuring correct product code and pricing.
- Ensure all stock is stored safely and in an organised manner to minimise the risk of damage.
- Monitor and reduce excess and dormant stock within the branch.
- Manage supplier invoice queries relating to purchase orders raised by the branch.
- Liaise with approved suppliers regarding excess and dormant stock.
- Coordinate the return of stock to suppliers where required.
- Ensure all Goods Inwards procedures are followed in accordance with Group Policy.
- Ensure damaged goods are returned to suppliers promptly and that all relevant supplier credits are received.
