Excel Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and highly regarded hotel in the Midlands to recruit a Gastro Bar Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional to take ownership of a busy and successful gastro bar operation within a hotel environment. The venue is a key part of the hotel’s offering, attracting both hotel guests and a strong local trade, making it a fast-paced and commercially important outlet.

Our client is seeking a hands-on manager who is passionate about hospitality, enjoys leading from the floor, and has a proven ability to drive service standards, team engagement, and commercial performance.

The Role

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the hotel’s gastro bar and restaurant.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the front-of-house team.
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences and maintain consistently high service standards.
  • Manage staffing levels, rosters, labour costs, and team performance.
  • Oversee stock control, purchasing, and cost management.
  • Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to drive revenue.
  • Ensure all food safety, health & safety, and compliance standards are maintained.
  • Handle guest feedback professionally and implement service improvements where required.
  • Maintain excellent standards of presentation, cleanliness, and service throughout the venue.
  • Lead from the floor during busy service periods, setting the standard for the team.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous management experience within a busy gastro bar, restaurant, hotel bar, or similar hospitality operation.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience working in a high-volume customer-focused environment.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing costs, stock, and labour.
  • Proven ability to drive excellent customer service standards.
  • A hands-on and proactive management style.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience developing and motivating hospitality teams.
  • Passion for food, beverage, and delivering memorable guest experiences.
