Job Title: Chief II Cardiac Physiologist

Excel Recruitment is recruiting a Chief II Cardiac Physiologist to join one of Munster’s leading private hospitals. This is a state-of-the-art Cork Heart Centre, delivering world-class cardiovascular care to patients across Munster.

The hospital has invested significantly in expanding its cardiac services and is home to the recently developed Cork Heart Centre, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to delivering advanced cardiovascular care to patients across Cork and the wider Munster region.

This is an exceptional opportunity to manage and support a team of Cardiac Physiologists, drive continuous process improvement and efficiencies across the Heart and Vascular Department, and play a pivotal role in the continued development of the service alongside hospital management and the multidisciplinary team.

The primary purpose of the Chief II Cardiac Physiologist role is to provide strong leadership in the development and delivery of departmental services and structures, with excellent patient care at the heart of every decision.

The successful candidate will be familiar with the techniques and range of equipment used in current medical practice for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients referred to Heart and Vascular services.

You must be capable of providing an excellent level of clinical competence and knowledge in echocardiography and be a team player.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage and support the Cardiac Physiology team, promoting a culture of clinical excellence, accountability and collaboration.
• Oversee the safe, efficient and patient-centred delivery of Heart and Vascular services.
• Drive continuous process improvement, service efficiencies and the consistent application of best practice.
• Work closely with consultants, nursing colleagues, hospital management and the wider multidisciplinary team to develop the service.
• Provide clinical leadership and ensure the appropriate use of current techniques, technology and equipment.
• Manage departmental rostering, recruitment, induction, training and development of junior staff.

Requirements:

• Possess a BSc (Honours) in Clinical Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology; or a BSc (Honours) in Clinical Measurement from Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin); or an equivalent relevant scientific qualification at Level 8, as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS).
• Alternatively, possess the Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement (MPPM) from Dublin Institute of Technology, or an equivalent scientific qualification confirmed by the IICMS, awarded in or before 2005.
• Have a minimum of five years’ full-time relevant post-qualification experience.
• Demonstrate the clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative knowledge and ability required for the proper discharge of the duties of the role.
• Have experience in departmental rostering, recruitment and the training and development of junior staff.
• Have experience in stock management and ordering.
• Have experience in budget management and business planning.
