Butcher Chargehand – Supermarket – Dublin

Excel Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Butcher Chargehand on behalf of our client, a successful and well-established supermarket in Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced butcher looking to take the next step into a leadership role within a busy, customer-focused fresh food department.

Salary: €45k – €50k

Responsibilities:

• Support the Head Butcher in managing day-to-day operations of the butchery department
• Ensure all products are prepared, displayed, and merchandised to the highest standard
• Deliver excellent customer service and promote quality, value, and freshness
• Assist in staff training, supervision, and delegation of daily tasks
• Monitor and manage stock control, rotation, and waste reduction
• Maintain full compliance with HACCP, food safety, and health & safety procedures
• Ensure the department achieves its sales, margin, and profitability targets
• Contribute to ordering, production planning, and product innovation

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Butcher, Chargehand, or Supervisor in a supermarket or craft butchery environment
• Strong knowledge of butchery techniques, cuts, and preparation
• Excellent understanding of HACCP and food safety standards
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
• A hands-on, team-oriented approach and commitment to high standards
