Assistant Manager – Castlebar, Mayo

Excel Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for an Assistant Store Manager on behalf of a successful and growing convenience retailer in Castlebar, Mayo.

Competitive salary of €40k – €42k DOE

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in all aspects of daily store operations
• Lead, coach, and motivate a team to deliver excellent customer service
• Drive sales performance while managing costs and improving profitability
• Oversee merchandising, stock control, and replenishment
• Assist with staff recruitment, training, development, and performance management
• Prepare staff rotas and manage labour costs effectively
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, health & safety, and company procedures
• Maintain high standards of presentation across all departments
• Act as Duty Manager in the Store Manager’s absence
• Deliver a consistently excellent shopping experience for every customer

The Ideal Candidate

• Drivers Licence
• Previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Duty Manager, or Senior Supervisor within convenience retail or supermarkets
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Commercially aware with experience driving sales and controlling costs
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Experience working with fresh food operations is an advantage
• Knowledge of HACCP and food safety regulations
• A hands-on, positive attitude with a passion for retail
