Checkout Supervisor – Supermarket – Dublin South

Excel Recruitment is currently recruiting a Checkout Supervisor for our client’s busy supermarket in South Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced retail professional to take on a key supervisory role, leading the checkout team and ensuring customers receive a friendly, efficient, and high-quality service.

Salary: €35k – €37k

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of the checkout department, ensuring smooth and efficient service at all times
• Supervise, motivate, and support checkout staff to maintain excellent customer service standards
• Coordinate staff breaks and ensure appropriate checkout coverage during busy trading periods
• Assist with the training and development of new and existing team members
• Monitor queues and respond quickly to changing customer demand
• Ensure accurate cash handling, till procedures, and end-of-day processes are followed
• Handle customer queries, complaints, and refunds in a professional and efficient manner
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation throughout the checkout area
• Ensure company procedures, security measures, and health & safety standards are consistently followed
• Work closely with store management and other departments to support the smooth running of the store

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a Checkout Supervisor, Retail Supervisor, Team Leader, or similar role within a supermarket or grocery retail environment
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a busy checkout team
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Experience with cash handling, till procedures, and checkout operations
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
• Confident handling customer queries and resolving issues professionally
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment
• Positive, hands-on approach with a strong focus on customer service
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends
