Assistant Buyer

Are you an experienced buying professional with a passion for fashion, product development and delivering commercially successful ranges? We are looking for an organised and commercially focused Assistant Buyer for our well-established fashion supplier client. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced buying department, supporting the development, purchasing and launch of seasonal fashion ranges. West Dublin based.

Key Responsibilities for this Assistant Buyer job include:

  • Support the development and purchasing of seasonal fashion ranges from initial concept through to delivery and launch.
  • Act as a key point of contact for suppliers throughout the product development process.
  • Conduct trend analysis, competitor shopping and market research to identify new product opportunities.
  • Request, review and provide feedback on product samples, quotations and specifications.
  • Monitor critical paths, supplier lead times and delivery schedules.
  • Raise purchase orders and maintain accurate style, pricing, barcode and product information.
  • Work closely with the Merchandising team to maximise sales and maintain product availability.
  • Coordinate packaging, product imagery, descriptions and supporting materials for retail and online customers.
  • Carry out quality-control checks on incoming deliveries.
  • Support seasonal photoshoots, sales materials, planograms and customer launches.
  • Communicate supplier delays, stock risks and delivery issues to the relevant departments.
  • Support the management and clearance of discontinued, excess and slow-moving stock.
  • Maintain accurate supplier, product and purchasing records across internal systems.

Requirements for this Assistant Buyer job include:

  • Previous experience as a Buying Assistant or Assistant Buyer within fashion, clothing, accessories or a related product category.
  • A strong interest in fashion trends, product development and wholesale.
  • Good commercial awareness with the ability to interpret sales and stock information.
  • Experience communicating with suppliers and managing samples, purchase orders and critical paths.
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Confident numerical, analytical and administrative abilities.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet demanding deadlines.
  • A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using buying or product-management systems.
