Excel Recruitment is currently seeking experienced and reliable Relief Chefs to join our temporary catering team in Clonmel. This is an excellent opportunity for chefs looking for flexible working hours, a varied workload, and the chance to gain experience across a range of high-quality contract catering environments.

The successful candidate will support kitchen operations across client sites, ensuring food is prepared and presented to the highest standards while maintaining food safety and HACCP compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook fresh meals in line with client specifications and menus.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control.
• Ensure full compliance with HACCP and food safety regulations.
• Assist with menu preparation and daily kitchen organisation.
• Manage food stock effectively and minimise waste.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
• Support kitchen teams during busy service periods.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies.

Requirements

• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working as a Chef in a professional kitchen.
• Previous experience in contract catering, healthcare, education, hospitality, or high-volume food production environments desirable.
• Valid HACCP certification.
• Manual Handling certification desirable.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Own transport desirable due to varying client locations.
• Flexibility to work weekdays and occasional weekends as required.
