Fresh Food Deli Manager – Waterford

Excel Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Fresh Food Deli Manager to join a busy, high-volume supermarket in Waterford.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven retail professional to lead a successful fresh food department, deliver exceptional food quality and customer service, and drive sales and profitability.

Salary: €40,000 – €42,000 plus bonus

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the Fresh Food and Deli department, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation and customer service
• Manage, coach and develop the deli team to create a positive, high-performing working environment
• Drive departmental sales, gross profit, labour costs and waste targets
• Plan production levels to maximise availability while minimising waste
• Ensure all food is prepared, displayed and served in line with company standards
• Manage stock ordering, inventory control and supplier relationships to maintain excellent product availability
• Monitor department KPIs and implement initiatives to improve sales, efficiency and profitability
• Ensure full compliance with HACCP, food safety legislation and Health & Safety procedures
• Maintain exceptional merchandising standards and ensure the department is always clean, organised and fully stocked
• Deliver outstanding customer service while resolving customer queries and complaints professionally
• Support the wider store management team and act as Duty Manager when required

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience managing a Fresh Food or Deli department within a supermarket or retail food environment
• Strong leadership skills with experience coaching, motivating and developing teams
• Excellent knowledge of HACCP, food safety legislation and fresh food operations
• Commercially aware with experience managing sales, margins, labour costs and waste
• Passion for delivering exceptional customer service and high-quality fresh food
• Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail
• Ambitious and eager to progress within a leading retail business
