Transport Planner

Excel Recruitment is seeking a Transport Planner for our client who specialises in the logistics and transport distribution industry. Our client is looking for a highly organised and detail-focused professional to support the day-to-day transport operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating deliveries, planning routes, maximising vehicle efficiency, and ensuring excellent customer service standards are maintained at all times.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organise daily delivery schedules.
• Allocate work effectively to drivers and delivery teams.
• Monitor transport operations and resolve issues as they arise.
• Ensure drivers follow company procedures and operational standards.
• Utilise transport planning systems to coordinate fleet deployment.
• Liaise with internal departments regarding delivery updates.
• Review routes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Support the training and onboarding of drivers and delivery staff.
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations and company policies.
• Produce transport reports and operational statistics.
• Promote and maintain health and safety standards.
• Process orders and prepare transport documentation.
• Provide support to warehouse operations when required.

Requirements

• Previous route planning or transport planning experience is desirable.
• Strong IT and systems skills.
• Experience working with high-volume deliveries or logistics operations.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of transport and distribution operations is an advantage.
