Excel Healthcare are recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist to join a well supportive Community Adult Mental Health Team in Longford.

This is an ideal opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with community experience, who is seeking a well-supported but autonomous role.

Job Purpose:

You will maintain and build on a strong OT presence previously established in the team. As well as focus on preventative, recovery-focused interventions for people living with mental health difficulties in the community. You will support clients in exploring or re-engaging with meaningful occupations.

The role focuses on promoting recovery, enhancing occupational performance, and supporting individuals to live independently and meaningfully in their communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a complex caseload of adults with varying mental health presentations, including anxiety, depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders
  • Carry out comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify functional needs and inform care planning
  • Design and deliver individual and group-based interventions focused on improving daily living skills, community participation, vocational goals, and social engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop recovery-focused care plans tailored to each service user.
  • Participate in discharge planning, transition support, and liaison with primary care, community supports, and family/carers.
  • Supervise and support the professional development of junior Occupational Therapists or students as required.
  • Maintain accurate, high-quality clinical documentation, in line with HSE standards and occupational therapy best practice.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives, including the development of protocols, audits, and outcome measurement.
  • Promote mental health awareness and advocate for occupational therapy within the wider community and MDT.
  • Essential Requirements:

  • BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent qualification recognised by CORU

  • CORU Registration (essential)

  • Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience, with at least 1 year in adult mental health.

  • Experience delivering occupational therapy in the Community.

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, managing a diverse caseload

  • Full driver’s licence and access to own transport (essential)
