Senior Food Buyer

My client, a leading Irish convenience retailer is seeking a confident Senior Food Buyer to take a hands-on approach to support the Commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a group that is built on a distinct culture which favours the needs of its employees. This role is based in Park West, Dublin.

Responsibilities of this Senior Food Buyer job include:

• Full category management accountability for your product area including sales, margin, budget management and stockholding.
• Building strong collaborative relationships with both our existing and potential supply base along with key departments across the company.
• Negotiate relevant contracts demonstrating good commercial practices in the process.
• Source new and innovative, high quality product development and concept opportunities and bring them through from initiation to execution.
• Remain up to date with market and industry trends by completing competitor analysis to ensure our offer is competitive.
• Plan and develop range plans for both core and seasonal buys.
• Setting and reviewing prices to ensure we are competitive.
• Monitor and report on sales performance to senior management.
• Liaise with the supply chain team and supply base to ensure full product availability across our range.

Experience required for this Senior Food Buyer job include:

• 3+ years in buying or category management with demonstrably strong negotiation skills essential.
• Microsoft Office intermediate to advanced level in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Power BI or equivalent beneficial.
• SAP experience.
• Experience within a convenience FMCG retail environment also advantageous.
• A dynamic individual who adapts well to change and can thrive in a rapidly growing organisation that continues to evolve.
• Project management skills.
• Demonstrate strong analytical capability to interpret and challenge data and to interrogate financial systems.
• Has strong commercial acumen and a focus on delivering value to the business.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, and ability to engage and develop relationships with individuals at all levels of the organisation.
