Product Developer – Food

Excel Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for this highly successful multinational retailer which specialises in selling quality clothing, beauty and home, and food products. As a Product Developer, you will direct and deliver the commercial food product development in line with the category plans and the food business strategy. Dublin city centre based. This is a 12-month contract role.

Responsibilities of this Product Developer job include:

  • Keep up to date with trends in foods and lifestyle, and packaging and ingredients (e.g, involving active research, travel, eating out and comparative shopping).
  • Set and deliver the product strategy agreed by the food division, developing products/ranges in line with range values defined by yourself or Head of Product.
  • In depth understanding of the brand’s competitor product categories.
  • Input into the category strategy with the Trading Manager, Brand Marketing, the Technologist, and the Buyer.
  • Identify commercial product development opportunities within your area of responsibility.
  • Follow the Stage and Gate development process and manage your projects to ensure critical path targets are met and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead on product quality standards setting the benchmark for the industry, identifying relevant benchmarks and centres of excellence.
  • Identifies opportunities to bring on board new suppliers to deliver market leading innovation.
  • Proactively use tools, data, and insights to drive your actions and decisions – these can include Campden, store tastings, Wirral, One Pulse/VYPR, brand insight, home evaluation, customer feedback, CIU, and awards feedback.
  • Ensure continuous personal development and learning, to further develop technical and business competency skills.

Requirements of this Product Developer job include:

  • Active interest in food, culinary trends, and food development.
  • Ability to apply culinary knowledge and skills to product development.
  • Ability to demonstrate commercial acumen.
  • Relevant systems.
  • Highly organised at managing projects.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret market and customer data.
