Our client is a busy, quality-led hospitality venue known for its energetic kitchen, strong team culture, and consistently high food standards. With a focus on fresh, well-executed dishes and a fast-paced service style, this is an environment where chefs can develop quickly while still enjoying stability and structure.
They are now looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Sous Chef – ideal for a strong Chef de Partie or Senior CDP looking to broaden their experience and step into a more involved, all-round kitchen role.
The Role
This is a hands-on position within a supportive kitchen where you’ll gain exposure to all areas of the operation – from prep and service through to ordering, organisation, and team support.
Rather than stepping straight into a purely managerial role, this opportunity offers a chance to build confidence, sharpen skills, and grow into leadership naturally, all while working as part of a well-structured and experienced team.
You’ll be involved across multiple service periods, giving you excellent variety and the chance to strengthen your all-round ability in a busy kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with senior chefs to support the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Prepare and cook dishes with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and presentation
- Take ownership of sections during service and build confidence across different areas of the kitchen
- Assist during busy service periods, ensuring dishes are delivered efficiently and to a high standard
- Support junior chefs and help maintain a positive, team-driven environment
- Get involved in menu ideas, specials, and seasonal changes
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and kitchen organisation
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and HACCP compliance
- Work across different sections, developing a well-rounded skillset
- Contribute to a “clean as you go” culture and well-organised kitchen environment
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a Chef de Partie or strong Commis ready to step up
- A chef who is eager to learn, develop, and take on more responsibility over time
- A genuine passion for food and improving your craft
- Someone who enjoys working in a busy, team-focused kitchen
- Strong work ethic and a hands-on attitude
- Good organisation and attention to detail
- Ability to stay calm and focused during service
- Willingness to learn all aspects of kitchen operations, not just one section
