Retail Horticultural Manager

My client, a long-established and family-run lifestyle and garden centre based on a large site in Carlow, is seeking a Retail Horticultural Manager. The store is a real destination for garden lovers, with a strong reputation for quality plants, expert advice, and award-winning customer service built over the last 20 years. They have a passionate team of plant experts, and the business continues to grow each year. They’re now looking for a Retail Horticultural Manager – someone who’s passionate about plants, enjoys engaging with customers, and wants to be part of a knowledgeable and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, train, and support a team of 11 employees, ensuring exceptional customer service and expert plant care advice.
• Oversee the day-to-day management of team members, ensuring tasks are completed to the highest standards.
• Manage the DIY Department within the Garden Centre.
• Handle all aspects of stock management, including ordering, goods receipt, merchandising, and stock control, to maintain a visually appealing and well-stocked retail space.
• Develop and implement sales strategies, promotions, and seasonal product planning to maximise revenue.
• Monitor and manage budgets, sales targets, and performance metrics to drive business growth.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Retail management or supervisory experience, ideally in a garden centre or horticultural setting.
• A Horticultural qualification with strong expertise in gardening and plant care.
• Proven experience in leading and mentoring teams, fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.
• A strong customer-focused approach, with a genuine passion for helping and advising customers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
