Buyer – Home & DIY

My client, a specialist Home, Garden and DIY distributor is seeking a commercial Buyer to join their team in North Dublin. You will be adept at managing existing supplier relationships and confident in sourcing new suppliers and products. This is an exciting opportunity for a Buyer with industry experience, seeking a varied role across multi-product categories in a growing Irish business.

Responsibilities of this job include:

• Sourcing and delivering the products and building the category range plans alongside the Senior Buyer
• Analysing sales performance and reviewing current ranges
• Managing existing supplier relationships and sourcing new suppliers
• Assessing competitor products and market trends
• Establish and uphold quality standards for all products, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and completion of test reports.
• Overseeing the critical path management
• Establishing strong working relationships with internal and external suppliers and stakeholders
• Together with the Senior Buyer coach and develop the team through training and mentoring
• Work with Marketing to develop strong promotional messages and to plan new launches

Requirements of this job include:

• 5 years’ experience in a similar Buying position.
• Proven track record in achieving required sales and margins.
• Local and international product sourcing experience (for own brand development).
• Knowledge of trends and strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
• Excellent communication skills and proactive attitude.
• Strong numerical and IT skills.
• Experience developing and mentoring junior team members
