Department Manager

Our client, a leading retail business, is seeking an experienced Department Manager to join their management team. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused retail professional to take ownership of a key department, drive sales performance, and lead a high-performing team within a fast-paced retail environment.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering operational excellence, maintaining exceptional customer service standards, and developing team capability while contributing to the overall success of the store. Based in South Dublin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of departmental performance, ensuring sales and profitability targets are consistently achieved.
  • Lead, inspire, and support a team of retail colleagues to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
  • Monitor trading performance and identify opportunities to improve sales, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Ensure excellent standards of merchandising, presentation, and product availability throughout the department.
  • Support the delivery of key business initiatives, seasonal launches, and promotional campaigns.
  • Foster a positive team culture through effective communication, coaching, and performance management.
  • Oversee daily operational activities, ensuring company procedures and compliance standards are maintained.
  • Use customer feedback and commercial insights to drive continuous improvement across the department.

Requirements

  • Previous experience managing a team within a retail, customer-facing, or fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver strong commercial results and achieve performance targets.
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing others.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering a best-in-class shopping experience.
  • Confident using data and business insights to make informed decisions and improve performance.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic retail environment.
