Duty Manager – Boutique Hotel | Kilkenny

A stunning boutique hotel in Kilkenny is currently seeking an experienced Duty Manager to join its management team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hospitality professional with a strong Food & Beverage background who enjoys being visible on the floor, guest‑facing and fully involved in the day‑to‑day operation of a quality hotel.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on, service‑driven environment, takes pride in standards, and enjoys leading teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

The Role

As Duty Manager, you will oversee the smooth daily operation of the hotel across all departments, with a particular emphasis on Food & Beverage operations.

You will act as the senior manager on duty, supporting teams, handling decision‑making in real time and ensuring service standards are consistently met throughout the property.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily hotel operations across Food & Beverage, Front Office, Accommodation and Public Areas
• Act as the senior manager on duty, providing leadership and operational direction
• Take a hands‑on role in restaurant, bar and function service during busy periods
• Deliver outstanding guest service and manage queries, feedback and complaints professionally
• Ensure consistently high standards of presentation, cleanliness and service across the hotel
• Lead, motivate and support teams across multiple departments
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, HACCP and fire safety procedures
• Assist with stock control, labour management, cash handling and daily reports
• Support senior management with operational efficiency and continuous service improvement

The Ideal Candidate

• You will be a confident hospitality professional who brings strong operational knowledge and a passion for service:
• Previous experience as a Duty Manager, Assistant Manager or Supervisor in a hotel or hospitality setting
• Strong Food & Beverage operational experience (restaurant and bar essential)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage operations in a fast‑paced environment
• Flexible to work shift patterns, including evenings and weekends
• Experience within a boutique or luxury hotel environment preferred
• Front Office experience or working knowledge of hotel PMS systems
• Strong understanding of hotel standards, procedures and compliance
