Café / Restaurant Manager (Healthcare Facility) – Cork
The Role
We’re seeking an experienced Café/Restaurant Manager to lead a busy, customer-facing café/restaurant operation within a healthcare environment. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a high-volume, high-standard setting-delivering warm, professional service while ensuring exceptional food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and compliance.
You’ll be responsible for daily operations, team training and development, service standards, and ensuring a consistently positive experience for patients, visitors, and staff-often during peak periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations of the café/restaurant, ensuring smooth service across breakfast, lunch and peak trading periods
- Deliver exceptional customer service and act as a visible, approachable leader on the floor
- Recruit, train, coach and develop a high-performing team; create a culture of service excellence and accountability
- Drive high-volume service while maintaining standards in food quality, speed, and presentation
- Implement and maintain service SOPs, opening/closing procedures, and operational routines
- Oversee rostering, staffing levels and labour management to meet demand and budgets
- Manage stock control, ordering, deliveries, rotation and waste reduction, ensuring best value and availability
- Ensure full compliance with HACCP / Food Safety, allergen controls, and hygiene standards at all times
- Maintain exceptional cleanliness across front of house, service areas, and customer facilities
- Handle customer feedback professionally, resolving issues quickly and positively
- Work closely with site stakeholders to ensure service supports the needs of a healthcare setting (patient privacy, sensitivity, professionalism)
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Café Manager / Restaurant Manager / Catering Manager / FOH Manager in a busy, high-volume environment
- Strong track record of customer service leadership-you set the tone for standards and service culture
- Passion for training and developing teams, with the ability to improve performance and consistency
- Comfortable managing fast-paced service, competing priorities, and multiple service periods
- Excellent understanding of food safety, allergen management, and hygiene standards (HACCP knowledge essential)
- Strong operational skills: stock, labour, KPIs, ordering, waste control, and service standards
- Confident communicator with a calm, professional approach-ideal for a healthcare environment
- Organised, solutions-focused, and able to lead by example
Desirable (Nice to Have)
- Experience in healthcare, contract catering, corporate catering, or similar regulated environments
- Food Safety/HACCP certification (or willingness to complete)
- Experience managing café retail / grab-and-go / high footfall operations
