This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven buying professional to take ownership of the Textiles and Household and Seasonal categories, shaping product ranges, building strong supplier partnerships, and driving margin performance within a fast-paced and dynamic retail environment. Responsibilities of this Buyer job include:
- Developing and delivering category and purchasing strategies aligned to sales and margin targets within the textiles, household and seasonal categories.
- Negotiating supplier agreements, pricing structures, rebates, and promotional funding to maximise profitability.
- Identifying new sourcing opportunities while managing and strengthening existing supplier relationships.
- Conducting competitor benchmarking and market analysis to inform pricing, product, and range decisions.
- Planning seasonal ranges, promotional calendars, and key trading periods to drive sales and category performance.
- Managing stock levels to ensure strong product availability while minimising risk on seasonal and slow-moving lines.
- Monitoring supplier performance, service levels, and product quality standards.
- Reviewing sales, margin, and stock data regularly to drive corrective action and optimise category performance.
- Contributing to budgeting and forecasting processes for assigned categories.
Requirements for this Buyer job include:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a buying or procurement role within retail or a related sector.
- Third-level qualification in Business, Retail, Procurement or a related discipline.
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to deliver commercial results.
- Demonstrated experience in range reviews and category optimisation to drive sales growth.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to manage stock and margin budgets effectively.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and deliver against targets.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working on own initiative in a fast-paced environment.
