Excel Recruitment are looking for a Person in Charge who is wise and resilient with excellent people and management skills to manage a brand new home in Cavan.

About the Role:

As Person in Charge, you will ensure that the children and young people we support are cared for to the highest standards.

You will lead the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of this new residential home, ensuring children and young people receive the highest quality of care, safety, and support.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for setting high standards of support working with young people affected by complex trauma
  • Responsible for Safeguarding, Strong motivational leadership and staff management. The post holder will demonstrate integrity and a strong philosophy of care.
  • The post includes the necessity for setting targets, objectives and professional development of staff who support the young people promoting the highest standard of service delivery possible.
  • To lead, manage and support the Social Care team to deliver a high-quality service that promotes young people’s safety, well-being and development.
  • To contribute to the development of the service and to implement plans.
  • To ensure effective day to day running of the home
  • To ensure that all standards in relation to the children/young person are upheld within the statutory framework and providers standards.
  • This post requires you to ensure that the Children’s home reflects a culture that is inclusive, warm and nurturing where young people’s wellbeing and development is promoted.
  • Promote a warm, nurturing and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the Regional Director, multidisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure every child’s care plan is tailored, implemented, and reviewed to reflect their evolving needs.
  • Lead on referrals, admissions, and transitions to and from care.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, compliance, and kindness.

Your Team:

  • Deputy Manager to support operational management
  • Two Team Leaders to guide frontline staff
  • Access to MDT and therapeutic supports
  • Backed by a positive, experienced senior leadership team

Essential Criteria:

  • QQI Level 7/8 in Social Care (or equivalent qualification)
  • Minimum 3-4 years post-qualification experience in children’s residential care (depending on qualification level)
  • Enrolled in (or have completed) a suitable management qualification
  • Alternatively, CORU-registered Social Care Worker with appropriate experience may be considered
  • Full clean driver’s licence (held for more than one year)
  • Strong leadership, communication and report-writing skills
  • Passion for delivering excellent, trauma-informed care
