My client based in West Cork is a well-known retailer supplying the local community, tradesmen, and builders with a huge choice of products for DIY, hardware, building, heating, plumbing, painting, gardening and more!!

They are recruiting a Manager for their Plumbing & Heating Department and Building Trade Counter.

You will have experience in supervising/managing a small team and a background in selling into trade customers.

You will lead a team of retail assistants, ensuring they are all extremely customer focused, always going the extra mile and resolving any issues in a prompt and efficient manner.

You will be very sales and target driven, conducting regular product training with your staff in order for them to give the best advice and offer alternative products.

Most importantly I am looking for a real people person with an infectious personality who can really motivate their team.

Salary discussed on application and is very competitive and will reflect the candidates’ level of experience.

Responsibilities for the job of Manager – Plumbing/Heating/Building Supplies:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the department
  • Motivate the sales team to ensure that the stores KPI’s are consistently delivered
  • Ensure that the department is commercially merchandised and visually appealing
  • Ensure staff are upselling and providing alternatives to increase sales
  • Minimise stock loss and organise stocktakes
  • Ensure the department is stocked to its potential
  • Analyse sales reports and KPI’s and use the information to make commercial decisions
  • Champion superior customer service in store
  • Coach and develop a team on product knowledge, sales skills and service
  • Monitor on an ongoing basis staff attendance, timekeeping and productivity
  • Recruitment and training
  • Cash handling, wages and banking
  • Monitor the departments margin and profit and loss
  • Health & Safety
