Responsibilities of this Fashion Buyer job include:

  • Create a buying strategy for clothing, accessories, and textiles, that fulfils the group’s direction, maximises market opportunities by understanding trends and customer expectations and needs gathered from market research.
  • Sourcing, selecting, and managing suppliers by attending trade shows, in Ireland and overseas.
  • To devise and negotiate competitive terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure mutually beneficial relations and sustainability for both parties.
  • Working with the Merchandising Manager plan financial budgets and open to buy for the department to achieve category sales and gross margin targets across all channels.
  • Analysing past sales patterns to anticipate trends in consumer buying and forecast future profitable sales.
  • With the Merchandising Manager, evaluate the performance of suppliers in terms of sell throughs, pricing, product quality, return rates, profit margin, sustainability, and delivery.
  • Manage Open to Buy (OTB), options and stock plans for the assortment, supporting operational efficiency and the need to improve stock turn.
  • Manage product lifecycle from launch through to exit of terminal ranges.
  • Work closely with the online team to position the brand as a truly omnichannel retailer and extend the online clothing proposition.
  • Develop good relationships with store and online managers to gather feedback, improve collaboration to achieve a better sell through and enhance our customer experience.

Requirements for this Fashion Buyer job include:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience and a proven track record working in the Retail Sector with a significant understanding of retail buying and selling.
  • A creative multi-tasking individual with excellent range planning and building skills.
  • Creative flair for selecting seasonal clothing and accessories, and knowledge of retail and consumer trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, communication, organisational and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and proven IT proficiency.
  • The capability to work in a fast-paced environment, juggle agendas and achieve targets.
  • Confidence to be able to forecast and give presentations to all levels of management.
