Product Technologist

My client, a highly successful Irish food manufacturer is seeking a Product Technologist – Fresh Category. The successful candidate will work closely with a Product Technologist and Trading Managers to develop Fresh food products across a range of categories. This is an amazing opportunity to join a vibrant Own Brand Team. Hybrid, Cork based.

Responsibilities of this job include:

• Ensure all Own Brand Products are consistently delivered to the consumer while meeting the agreed standards for the product.
• Bench marking of products in the marketplace.
• Ensure packaging is as sustainable as possible while maintaining the integrity of the product through shelf life.
• Conduct market research to identify range gaps, together with Trading Developer and launch these lines to market using the Stage Gate Process.
• Liaise with the design team to develop and project manage pack design.
• Ensure 100% compliance with all policies and legislation.
• Compliance with the stage gate product development process.
• Ensure that the Process and Product are protected and continuously improved.
• Develop a clear and concise understanding of the business priorities and play a vital part in delivering the guiding principle of the lowest cost.

Requirements for this job include:

• Third-level degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Business, or relevant courses.
• Excellent project management skills, communication and influencing skills.
• 5 years of hands-on experience in the FMCG sector/food manufacturing/retailer environment in a transferable role such as Development/Project Management/ Technical, ideally in the fresh product area.
• The ability to work individually, as well as part of a large, cross-functional team.
• Functional hands-on experience in: Supplier and product selection, product quality optimisation, supplier negotiation, and project management and planning.
• Computerised specification systems.
• Legislation, legal labels, product specifications, and product and packaging cost modelling.
