Health and Safety Advisor

Excel are delighted to partner with the leading residential developer in the Irish market in hiring an ambitious Health and Safety Advisor to join their award-winning team. Our client is currently seeking an Intermediate level Health and Safety professional to work on a large residential project in Dublin on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities for Health and Safety Advisor

  • Collaborate with the construction management team to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
  • Enhance Health & Safety standards through practical improvements within the company management system and at specific sites.
  • Monitor and enforce the company’s Health & Safety Management System.
  • Identify and address site-specific hazards, ensuring they are documented and implemented on-site.
  • Maintain communication with the Health & Safety Manager.
  • Ensure all site folders and statutory records are up to date.
  • Enforce adherence to site rules by contractors.
  • Assist site management with statutory Health & Safety requirements and compliance.
  • Support the development of risk assessments and improvements to safety systems.
  • Help manage contractor compliance and coordinate safe systems of work.
  • Enforce site-specific disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Conduct on-site Health & Safety audits and address non-conformances.
  • Participate in accident and incident investigations.
  • Contribute to Tool Box talks and their delivery.
  • Identify training needs for on-site personnel and contractors.

Requirements for Health and Safety

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing safety systems in construction with a qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) membership preferred.
  • Capable of independently managing Health & Safety on-site within the scope of the management system.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate with project stakeholders and statutory bodies.
  • Ability to manage risk and implement control measures.
  • Experienced in working with contractors from diverse backgrounds.
  • Confident in leading Health & Safety meetings and presentations.
