Excel Recruitment is seeking skilled and experienced Furniture Fitters to join our client’s busy service team in the Waterford area.

Position: Furniture Fitting & Assembly Technician

Location: Waterford
Job Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term Contract (with a view to permanency)

About the Role

We are looking for hands-on, detail-oriented professionals to assemble and install a range of furniture – from wardrobes and bed frames to modular and sliding units – in customer homes and retail display settings.

You’ll play an important role in ensuring every installation is completed to the highest standard while delivering excellent customer service on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install flat-pack and modular furniture (e.g. wardrobes, bed frames, sliding units) in customer homes or store displays.

  • Read and interpret assembly manuals and modular installation plans, including those from brands such as IKEA and similar.

  • Carry out on-site tasks such as mounting units to walls, adjusting skirting boards, cutting access points for sockets, or fitting fillers (training provided).

  • Perform minor repairs or adjustments to furniture when required.

  • Deliver a professional customer experience – arrive punctually, work neatly, ensure site safety, and capture required signatures or updates.

  • Complete job documentation accurately and report any issues to supervisors.

  • Maintain company tools, vehicle, and equipment in good order.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 1-2 years of experience in furniture assembly, fitting, or a related trade.

  • Confident in using hand tools and power tools (cordless drills, jigsaws, mitre saws, multi-tools, etc.).

  • Strong ability to read and follow detailed assembly and installation instructions.

  • Full, clean B driving licence (essential).

  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English.

  • Reliable, punctual, and customer-focused approach.

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Background in carpentry or joinery.

  • Experience with branded modular systems or fitted furniture.

  • Ability to carry out minor on-site modifications during installation.
