Excel Recruitment are seeking a reliable and hardworking Catering Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis in Waterford city. The role involves supporting the kitchen staff in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and assisting with food preparation.

This is flexible working hours, Mid week Monday – Friday mornings.

Key Responsibilities

• Mixture or Catering Assistant or Kitchen Porter roles – You can choose your preference.

• Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation.

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, equipment, and utensils.

• Wash, peel, and prepare ingredients as directed.

• Load/unload dishwashers and ensure crockery, cutlery, and kitchenware are clean and ready.

• Follow food hygiene, safety, and health & safety procedures.

• Manage deliveries, unpack stock, and ensure correct storage of food.

• Support the wider kitchen team as required.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment (preferred but not essential).

• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends if required.
