Buyer – Home & DIY

My client, a specialist Home, Garden and DIY distributor is seeking a commercial Buyer to join their team in North Dublin. You will be adept at managing existing supplier relationships and confident in sourcing new suppliers and products. This is an exciting opportunity for a Buyer with industry experience, seeking a varied role across multi-product categories in a growing Irish business.

Responsibilities of this job include:

• Effectively deliver a balanced range of new products and merchandise assortments to clearly position the business in the market and meet customer requirements.
• Developing and implementing an effective range strategy for the business which will maximise market share and deliver both sales and margin targets and look for opportunities to grow our client’s own brand offer where relevant.
• Manage existing suppliers and introduce new supply base to ensure measured range and timely deliveries. Conduct regular reviews and management of the supply base.
• Identifying emerging trends on the market and creating opportunities to create future growth through conducting regular market research and analysis.
• Develop and maintain a pricing strategy that positions us effectively against our competitors
• Maximising sales, opportunities and performance.
• Manage and build the commercial and business relationships with our suppliers and key stakeholders.
• Work with Marketing to develop strong promotional messages and to plan new launches.

Requirements of this job include:

• Experience in a similar Buying position.
• Proven track record in achieving required sales and margins.
• Local and international product sourcing experience (for own brand development).
• Knowledge of trends.
• Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
• Excellent communication skills and proactive attitude.
• Strong numerical and IT skills.
