Assistant Bar Manager

Are you an experienced passionate Assistant Bar Manager looking for an exciting new start in a progressive hotel? Then look no further, this may just be the role for you.

Reporting to the Bar Manager, you will maximise guest satisfaction by supervising the bar and providing efficient, courteous, and quality beverage service to bar guests. This role would suit someone who has experience working in a busy property with multiple bars and who perhaps is looking to enhance their professional development. Full training will be provided by seasoned hospitality specialists.

Responsibilities as an Assistant Bar Manager:

  • Supervises the bars
  • Attends weekly meetings with the Bar Manager to compile the rosters for all the F&D outlets
  • Controls wage cost in line with the budget
  • Supervises the bars and junior bar supervisors and bar staff
  • Controls stock and wastage of beverages in the bar
  • Training and motivating staff to always ensure exceptional guest service
  • Ensuring proper complaint handling process is always implemented
  • Suggesting a cocktail/wine or non-alcoholic beverage and recommending promotional items
  • Uses approved suggestive selling techniques to upsell products with a higher profit margin
  • Maintains knowledge of bar inventory and wine selection to respond properly to guest questions
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of beverage recipes and mixing procedures
  • Maintains responsibility for the always set up and cleanliness of the entire bar and adjoining lounge area
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of standard policies and procedures regarding cash handling, check-writing, credit cards, city ledger, and customer ledger
  • Evaluates the bar menu, and give suggestions for improvement to the F&D Manager
  • Ensures that the bar is stocked with “mise-en-place” and always kept clean and tidy
  • Full knowledge of alcohol and liquor policies and regulations, and complies fully with them
  • Maintains the bar reservation list, and checks the restaurant reservations list frequently during the shift
  • Prepares bar business plan and budget together with Bar Manager & analysing budgets

Requirements as an Assistant Bar Manager:

  • 2-3 Years of Supervisory or bar management experience
  • Hard-working & conscientious
  • Excellent customer service and people management skills
  • Experience working in a very busy property
