Agricultural Liaison Officer – Remote

€55000 - €60000 Office & Administrative Galway

At Excel Recruitment, we are hiring an Agricultural Liaison Officer on behalf of our client based in Dublin 4.

Our client is a leading Irish energy business, dedicated to providing transmission and market services for electricity consumers in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The Agricultural Liaison Officer will form part of the landowner engagement team within the Public Engagement team. The role will be regionally based but may also require time spent in the Dublin office as the need arises. Frequent travel to landowner locations, stakeholder meetings, and project locations in Ireland and Northern Ireland will be a core activity of the role.

Maintain Responsibilities

  • Liaising with key agricultural stakeholders and landowners regarding infrastructure development in all phases of project lifecycle from initiation through the planning and construction phases.
  • Work closely with project managers for landowner engagement in the management of the work and prioritisation of stakeholders and projects.
  • Ensure that the policies applicable to landowners are applied and assist with the preparation of land management studies, strategies, and initiatives being developed and managed by the Land Management team.
  • Liaise with, and provide landowner and agricultural advice to project staff, public planners, legal advisors, and project consultants in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
  • Provide wayleave and/or easement advice to project teams and where necessary to join the wayleave team as part of the overall landowner engagement strategy.
  • Work closely with Community Liaison Officers and Engagement Specialists on project planning and public information campaigns.
  • Ensure knowledge of Irish and Northern Ireland/EU land management legislation and in the area of best practice development of Irish/International planning and environmental standards.

Requirements

  • 4-5 years relevant experience working in the area of land management
  • Experience in developing and maintaining excellent relationships with landowners, agents, experts in related fields of agriculture and equine and state bodies associated with land management.
  • Demonstrate specific experience in dealing with farming organizations and a track record in understanding stakeholder perspectives in your day-to-day working.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including self-motivation, diplomacy, enthusiasm, and teamwork skills.
  • Experienced negotiation and people skills in the specific area of way-leaving and easements.
  • Demonstrate experience in problem-solving, and an ability to work capably on own initiative.
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of best practice methodologies in land management in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
  • Strong knowledge of the agriculture industry, farming enterprises, and practices.
  • Knowledge of landowner identification and registration methods.
  • Good map reading and cartographic skills.
  • Full clean drivers’ license
