Supermarket Assistant Manager – Waterford City

Excel Recruitment is thrilled to be recruiting a Supermarket Assistant Manager for our client’s supermarket in Waterford.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic retail professional to join a dynamic and growing supermarket group at an exciting stage of expansion.

Salary: €55k

Responsibilities:

• Support the Store Manager in the day-to-day running of the new store, ensuring smooth operations and high standards from day one
• Help lead the store team to deliver exceptional customer service and consistent in-store excellence
• Contribute to achieving sales, margin, and performance targets across all departments
• Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members for the opening
• Implement and maintain high standards in merchandising, cleanliness, stock control, and health & safety
• Handle cash management, shift planning, and problem-solving as needed
• Deliver strong communication and foster a positive, motivated team environment
• Take ownership in the absence of the Store Manager and help lead the team through the store’s successful launch and ongoing growth

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a supermarket or convenience retail management role
• Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
• A hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to motivate and develop a new team
• Commercially aware with a focus on delivering KPIs and customer satisfaction
• Passion for retail and excited to be part of a new store opening
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, during the store setup and launch phase
