General Manager – Supermarket – Co. Clare

Excel Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a General Manager on behalf of our client, a highly successful and well-established supermarket in Co. Clare.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Store Manager ready to take the next step into a General Management role.

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the supermarket’s day-to-day operations, working closely with the existing Store Manager and management team to ensure commercial success, excellent standards, and a positive working culture.

Salary: €65k – €70k

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the overall running of the supermarket, ensuring smooth operations and consistent delivery of high standards
• Work in collaboration with the Store Manager and management team to meet sales, margin, and customer satisfaction targets
• Lead, motivate, and support department managers and staff to perform at their best
• Drive commercial performance by monitoring KPIs, identifying opportunities, and implementing improvements
• Manage budgets, control costs, and ensure efficient use of resources
• Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety, and food safety regulations
• Support the Store Manager in maintaining exceptional store presentation, merchandising, and availability
• Foster a positive team environment built on communication, accountability, and respect
• Play a key role in recruitment, training, and staff development to ensure a capable and motivated team

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Store Manager or senior management role within supermarket or grocery retail
• Proven ability to lead large teams and manage multiple departments
• Excellent commercial awareness with a strong track record of achieving KPIs and driving profitability
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Hands-on, proactive approach to management and problem-solving
• Passionate about retail, customer experience, and people development
• Flexibility to work across store opening hours, including weekends when required
